The Mission Field
Reaching the Lost for Christ
Brian & Mary Chamberlin
Volume 3, Issue 2
January – March, 2001
Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus!
This year is moving right along as we have been laboring in the Mission Field. The Harvest is truly RIPE.
Matt. 9:37-38 Then saith he unto his disciples, "The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest".
Since our last update, we were in N. Florida.
I carried the cross at the Florida Supreme Court during the vote recount deliberations. (Please continue to pray for our President and leaders). It was a glorious day of sharing the Gospel and prayer for our nation. We went to various areas of Florida ministering and preparing for battle at Mardi Gras in New Orleans, LA.
We were blessed to have been present with the Rowes at the birth of Miss Abigail May Rowe, a beautiful baby girl. Thank you Jesus!
The first part of February we started toward New Orleans. We stopped in Destin, FL at Family Christian Fellowship with Pastor Phillip & Connie Troullos & family.
We arrived in time to take part in a 2 day Derek Prince Ministries conference.
It was a great time of cleansing.
Sunday, unexpectedly, I was invited to share with the body of Christ. We were wonderfully blessed with the Presence & Power of God throughout the weekend & Sunday services. We were welcomed by all the body there.
Thank you, Pastor Phillip. May the Lord bless you abundantly.
Continuing on, we arrived at Celebration Church in New Orleans. We were welcomed with a wonderful outpouring of love.
For the past three years, we have been blessed to park at Celebration Church while ministering at Mardi Gras and in the streets of New Orleans.
We want to Thank Pastor Dennis, Chris & Cindy, and the whole staff for the tremendous welcome and liberty you have given us.
Also, great thanks to all of our brothers and sisters in Christ. We enjoy your fellowship & hunger to win souls and being able to hit the streets together.
Feb.12: Left to pray over the gates to the city of New Orleans. As we had covered several gates we stopped in an area that is known for drugs and crime. I was blessed to pray with one young black man that said he was born again. I shared some scripture with him as Lance, Richard & Charlie gathered.
Then we left. A couple of blocks later a police pulled us over, checked us out and wanted to know what we were doing. Lance shared with him that we were praying for the city. It seemed pretty foreign to him but he said, "ok".
2/13 Richard, Francis, Lance and I left camp to finish praying over the gates to the city. As we covered a couple of gates, we stopped, got out and began praying and blowing the shofars.
After powerful prayer, I saw 3 people coming out of a porno shop across the road. I lifted my voice, praying against pornography. As we began to leave, a police car pulled in to block me. He told us to get out and put our hands on the hood. He then searched us for weapons. He said that there was a caller saying there were three white men under the bridge with pipes. (SHOFARS!) We talked with them a moment and they let us go. Thank you Jesus! The enemy was mad!
Later, I got to pray with a young man named Shawn.
Richard and Francis also got to pray with 2 men. GLORY TO GOD!
Today, Brian O., Lance, Richard and I walked Veteran's Hwy. Brian and I walked together. We were blessed to minister to many. One lady had acute arthritis. As I ministered to her, I asked if I could pray for her and she said, "Yes".
At a bus stop, there were two people sitting. A very large man (John), and the other, his girl friend (Betty). I started to share Jesus with them and after a while, I asked John what would keep him from asking Jesus into his life. He replied, "Nothing".
So we prayed (GLORY), then I prayed FOR him. After that I looked at Betty and asked her if there was anything that I could pray with her about. She looked at me with tears in her eyes, and said "Just what you prayed with John. It touched my heart so. Thank you Jesus for John & Betty.
Monday: Brian O., Francis, Lora (my 12 year old ) and I went to St. Charles St. The men carried the crosses and I took my milk crate and preached at the bus and trolley car stops. Lora filmed and handed out tracts. The Lord blessed the day with 6 salvations. It was all in all a great day. Praise the Lord Jesus!
Tuesday, Brian, Lance, Richard and I walked Bourbon St. with the crosses. We stopped at every intersection and lifted our voices in prayer and sounded the shofars unto the Lord.
A couple of bar owners were upset. One told us to move on but we held ground for Jesus. I was blessed to see fellow ministers, Craig & Peggy Beman from the Midwest. Praise the Lord.
I went through a ton of tracts and got to pray with ad talk with several people for different needs. Glory!
Thursday: Brian, Lance, Frank, Suzanne & I walked the crosses and prayed over Jackson Square and the Amphitheater. We had some great fruit. I spent some time discipling a bro (Eugene) who had just given his life to Jesus and was set free of an eight year crack addiction. He was hungry to be taught and the Lord spoke some confirmations into his life.
I came up to one of the mime artists that look like statues. I stopped, set down my cross and said to him, "Finally, someone who will listen to me." He stood still, so I shared the Gospel. Then I left a tract with him and thanked him. He never moved or blinked, but the Word of God does not return to Him void.
Friday: Today we hit Bourbon St. I had a precious time witnessing to a man from Michigan. After sharing the Gospel, he was ready to receive Jesus as His Lord. It was a wild night with many of us being targets, blasted by beads throughout the night. Even in the midst of the battle, the Lord was faithful in bringing those who were being drawn unto salvation.
Saturday: Mary and people from Celebration prepared food, which we took to the Wall to feed the homeless. It was awesome. We had about 70-80 turn out. There were a couple of salvations and I was blessed to spend time discipling one man from Canada. We had a great turnout of volunteers from Celebration.
Our brothers and sisters from Celebration have really been a blessing to us, to the Lord and their city.
Monday: This morning we went to Mel Rolls' camp for praise and worship & refreshing. Later we headed to the praise rally at Jackson Square. About 2,000 Christians come together to make a bold stand for JESUS.
While we were praising, 4 gays came in front of me and began dancing suggestively. I stood praying that God would touch them. After several minutes passed they were still mocking God, when a Trumpet of the Lord (shofar) sounded and they ran off.
After the rally, we all hit Jackson Square an then Bourbon St. It was awesome sharing Jesus and seeing lives transformed in the midst of the swill. I had several blessings of salvations and a lot of fruitful conversations.
I was holding the hands of a couple about to pray with them, when another hand laid on ours. I turned to the man that had been standing there, listening to what I had been talking with the couple. He asked me what was going to happen and I said that they were about to ask Jesus to be the Lord of their life. He said, "I need Jesus, too!" PRAISE THE LORD!!
It was an awesome time. There was also much persecution that night, but even greater fruit. I was blessed to have my Mary, ministering on the streets with me this night. Thanks Shell.
Fat Tuesday: We arrived in Jackson Sq. about noon. We were met by a large gathering of Satanists, drunkards, revelers and mockers who come every year to mock God and Christians in front of the Catholic Church.
One man roamed about naked in front of every one including children in all this wickedness. People going around with replicas of anatomy parts on their faces calling out all manner of blasphemy unto God. This year the Mayor gave full permission for nudity at Mardi Gras as long as it doesn't hurt anyone.
2 Pet 2:13-15 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; (kjv)
One man comes every year dressed as a Pope, bringing his loud speaker system to yell all sorts of obscenities about Jesus. They had signs saying, "Ask me about Satan", "Curb your doctrine", "The devil loves you", and many that can't be uttered. All of this takes place in front of the Catholic Church.
Brian O. said in his 11 years of ministering at Mardi Gras not once has a Catholic priest ever come out to say anything or to share about Jesus. One man came at me as I was preaching, screaming "You can't do this in front of MY church". The preaching of the Gospel was an offense to him.
The wickedness, nudity, tarot card readers, psychics, Satanists, drunkards, atheists, revelers and mockers of God and the Catholic Church didn't bother him, only the WORD OF GOD offended him. He was a member of this Catholic Church. He was drunk, dressed as a jester and partaking in the mockery of God. He was trying to stop the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to have us moved away from God's house.
The most wicked spot in New Orleans is at the doorsteps of this church. One woman attacked trying to tear up the bible on the pulpit. She violently bit Richard as he tried to get the bible.
Over all it was an exciting and fruitful year at Mardi Gras. Thousands of people were ministered to. Many were fed spiritually and physically, although it is intense ministry, the power of God moves mightily. In that it is a wonderful time. I am praying about putting together a team of 10-20 members to radically reach the lost of Mardi Gras, 2002.
If you would like to be a part of this team, please contact me soon via e-mail or regular mail. I believe you will be blessed.
2 Tim 1:8.
Hallelujah to the Lord Jesus Christ, who delivered many this year of 2001 out of utter darkness. GLORY BE TO GOD!
"The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise" Prov. 11:30
"Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. PRAISE YE THE LORD." <>< Psalms 150:6
We have seen God's hand at work through evangelism in the past several weeks. While in Saluda, SC, we've seen Him bring churched people who were offended at the sight of the cross standing out in the open, whose hearts were turned as they came and talked with us, and found out why we're out in the first place....... imagine that.
People out in the streets just to glorify the Lord, and folks get offended. Well, it's an everyday occurrence, but God is faithful to turn it around for His good.
This week we ran into people believing themselves to be God, angels, and every other sort, saying we needed to bow before them!
Well, many also came to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We also have been teaching evangelism and training people as to how to share their faith. Seeing folks get off the pew, and sharing the gospel is exciting.
You know, as the folks from the church go out, many times they/we are mistaken for Jehovah's Witnesses.....WHY?? because Americans are not used to seeing the Christians out like that. That must be changed.
We need more to be out about our Father's business and see this generation as though it were (and could be) the last, here on earth. See people today as though they were on their way to hell.
And be bold enough to share the gospel with them. If they aready know the Lord, then you've met a brother or sister. If not, and the Lord is drawing them to receive, and they do receive the Word, then you've given them the saving message they needed to hear. You've kept another from the abyss.
What do you have to lose? It's not about you anyway. I know you say, "but those are harsh words". Well, maybe, but maybe it's about time. We are not promised tomorrow, and neither are those folks out there who may never have heard that there is a WAY out of all of the darkness......so, share, share, share.
Ok, enough for now. A PRAISE REPORT>>>>>> My sister-in-law Elaine, who is Brent's mom.....sent us a card. She asked that we pass along her heartflet thanks for all of the prayers offered up on Brent's behalf last year after the car wreck that almost took his and Josh's life in Tucson, AZ.
She said, your prayers were heard and answered. Brent is fully recovered and the only side effect is that he now wears glasses. They expected him to have a lot of problems but he doesn't.
Also his right arm was fractured and seperated with nerve damage. The arm specialist was amazed that he is using his arm. People with that type of injury lose total use of their limbs forever. PRAISE THE LORD!!!!! ( those were her words!!!)
Also, we are still standing and believing for total healing for my aunt's brother, JOHN WAYNE NEILL! He was expected to be amputated from the belly button down. Can you imagine losing half your body? Well, we are believing not only for healing, but that God will raise him up and heal him so totally that he will walk out on his own two legs.
PRAY FOR HEALING OF HIS BLOOD AND LIMBS, PLEASE. SURGERY HAS BEEN MOVED UP TO MAY 22. THANK YOU....
May the Lord bless you in your mission field, We would love to hear from you:
